Philadelphia Telangana Association (PTA) joins Jeweish Relief Agency to pack the meal and distribute to deserved families in the Philadelphia neighborhood.

Food Distribution

One Sunday each month, 750-1,000+ volunteers of all ages and backgrounds meet as a community at our Northeast Philadelphia warehouse to pack fresh produce and non-perishable kosher food, load their cars with boxes and deliver food and a smile into the homes of those in need. Most volunteers arrive at 10:00am, with a small group coming as early as 8:30am to pack bags of fresh produce and make boxes. Volunteers check in, have a quick nosh (bagels and shmeers and coffee, of course!), get a brief orientation and take their place alongside other enthusiastic volunteers in the assembly line packing boxes with food. Packing takes about 90 minutes — it’s not a race, but 750+ people working together can get things done really fast. Volunteers load their cars with 8-12 boxes and make deliveries right to the homes of JRA’s recipient families. We make deliveries to recipients who live all over the five county Philadelphia area and northern Delaware, and provide turn-by-turn driving directions so you won’t get lost. JRA is the largest provider of food assistance to Jewish families in need in the Greater Philadelphia region and is the third largest direct-service food pantry in our area. Our monthly food distribution, started in 2000, now assists over 3,000 low income households. For many recipients, the work of JRA means the difference between eating regularly and going without.
